Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy has been around for 6000 years or more. The Greeks, Romans and ancient Egyptians all used aromatherapy oils. Since the 19th century essential oils have been studied in Europe for their medicinal and cosmetic effects.

Essential oils extracted from plants, trees and flowers contain unique chemical compositions that may have healthful benefits on the body and mind.

After a free, full consultation a personalised essential oil blend will be chosen to offer the best treatment for your needs, they will then be diluted in a carrier oil such as Sweet Almond or Grapeseed then administered to the body at the desired pressure. They can also be diffused in to the air to accelerate the absorption. After your treatment it is advisable not to bathe or shower for 6 to 24 hours to allow the oils to absorb in to the system, take a rest and relax if possible, avoid eating a heavy meal, refrain from smoking and consuming alcohol or caffeine for as long as possible and to drink plenty of water.

Aromatherapy can be beneficial for anyone if used safely, some oils can be very potent and have possible contra indications. It is very important that during your consultation you inform me of any medical issues. Treatment will not be carried out if you are suffering from thrombosis, are within the first trimester of pregnancy or have an unstable pregnancy, have a high fever, uncontrolled high or low blood pressure or have any undiagnosed concerning lumps, if you are being treated for cancer a letter from your doctor may be required.
